Roar Fest brings new Homecoming Week tradition to campus

The University of Memphis debuted a new Homecoming tradition with its first-ever Roar Fest, held Oct. 25 on the University Center lawn. Replacing the long-standing Homecoming parade, the event featured performances by Sound Fuzion, food trucks, and appearances from the Homecoming Court, along with heightened security measures following the recent shutdown of the Aux Cord Wars event earlier in the week.

Campus Revival hosts ‘Taste the Nations’ to celebrate cultural unity

 Campus Revival hosted its annual International Thursday: Taste the Nations event at the University of Memphis, celebrating cultural diversity and unity. The evening featured a sermon from Bishop Lindsay of Revival International Memphis Church, games, and a multilingual unity song that highlighted the event’s theme.

Blue Tom Records hosts postgrad panel during Blue Tomber series

Blue Tom Records, the University of Memphis’ student-run record label, hosted the second night of its Blue Tomber event series on Oct. 8 at the Crews Center. The evening featured a panel on life after graduation with Lulu Abdun, Morgan Massey, and Jeff Cohran, who shared personal insights on navigating career paths and defining success beyond traditional expectations.

Who has the best jollof rice? ASA aims to settle the debate

The African Student Association hosted a jollof rice competition on Oct. 8 at the University of Memphis International Center as part of its “Week in Africa” celebration. ASA President Andy Noubissi said the competition aimed to settle the friendly rivalry over which country makes the best jollof rice while inviting new members to experience African culture.
