Last Thursday, Campus Revival, a Christian ministry at the University of Memphis, hosted its annual International Thursday: Taste the Nations event.

The gathering provided the campus community with a sense of cultural diversity as students from Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, and the United States represented their countries through traditional clothing and flags.

The night began with an icebreaker encouraging guests to meet someone new, followed by a lively praise and worship session. As the worship team led songs, attendees clapped, danced through the aisles, and lifted their hands in joy. The energy soon transitioned into a sermon delivered by Bishop Lindsay of Revival International Memphis Church.

“The goal of this event is to highlight the unity we share as Christians in the body of Christ, while emphasizing the importance of spreading the Gospel and sharing God’s love," said Gabrielle Richardson, president of Campus Revival.

Unity was portrayed through laughter, sharing of food, and culture as each country marched out to theme songs showing off their cultural dance moves and music. The campus ministry even took time out to play "Guess the Bible Story: Emoji Edition."

The food represented a variety of cuisines, including Italian, Asian, African, and American dishes, giving attendees the chance to “taste the nations.”

Toward the end of the night, everyone joined in singing a unity song that many said was their favorite moment. The lyrics, “Though we are many, we are one body, we are one body in Christ,” were sung in multiple languages, including English, French, Swahili, Twi, and Spanish.

“The Bible reminds us that the Lord decided in advance to adopt us into His family by bringing us to Himself through Christ,” Richardson added.
