Volleyball's offseason continues as three players enter the transfer portal

Since the transfer portal for NCAA volleyball opened on Dec. 7, the Memphis Tigers volleyball team has lost Mandy Lawson, Riley McCloskey and Maddy Bach to the portal, three valuable contributors on this season’s team.

Lawson, a freshman libero, played in 29 matches with 11 starts and finished the season with 117 digs.

Bach, a freshman setter, appeared in all 31 matches, was the two-time American Conference Setter of the Week and finished 10th in the American with 681 assists on the season.

Finally, McCloskey, a freshman outside hitter, started in eight matches and appeared in 18, recording 70 kills on the season.

All three projected to be key contributors to the Tigers volleyball team in the years to come.

However, the Tigers did receive good news with junior standout outside hitter Amanda Hardt, who told the Daily Helmsman that she would be returning next year.

Hardt, who only played ten games due to a season ending injury, racked up a number of awards in that short time. Hardt led the Tigers to a 7-3 start, won the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week award twice and won two tournament MVPs at the Rumble at the Roane and the Carrie Yerty Classic.
