Several undergraduate students who share an interest in history connected at the Student History Society’s first membership meeting of the semester on Thursday.
The Student History Society is a student organization that brings students and faculty members together to discuss historical topics and create a community among students, particularly within the history department.
The meeting, held in Room 145 of Mitchell Hall, was hosted by faculty advisor Professor Amanda Savage alongside society president Alexander Tickey. Together, they discussed upcoming plans and events with seven new members.
One of the first orders of business was electing a new vice president. After a moment of silence, sophomore Everett Sego, confidently accepted the role as the new vice president of the Student History Society. Sego, a transfer student from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has experience in answering history-related questions after being a part of UTK’s Quiz Bowl team.
The society’s next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m. More information about the Student History Society will be available on TigerZone.
