Slim & Husky's, a Nashville-based pizzeria, officially opened for business in the Maxine A. Smith University Center on Wednesday.
The grand opening ceremony was met with strong student interest as the line for the restaurant extended out of the food court at its peak. The restaurant occupies the former location of Tu Taco in the food court.
The menu offers a variety of specialty artisan pizzas, chicken wings with locally inspired sauces, and the chain’s signature cinnamon rolls.
Founded back in 2015 by three Tennessee State University graduates, Slim & Husky’s began as a way to provide jobs in their North Nashville neighborhood. Since then, the restaurant has expanded across Tennessee and into surrounding states. The University of Memphis location marks their latest effort to reach college communities, joining existing locations at Middle Tennessee State University and Belmont University.
