Wipe out diaper deficiency with donations to UMAEYC

Every bottom counts.

The University of Memphis Association of Educating Young Children, UMAEYC, is sponsoring a diaper drive to benefit the YMCA of Memphis.

According to a recent study published in Healthy Mom & Baby online, 1 in 3 families struggle to purchase diapers.

Without diapers, childcare services will not watch them. Without childcare, parents can’t go to work. US Census Bureau statistics show 27.4 percent of Memphians live in poverty.

Donations can help cover a local baby’s bottom. Diapers of all sizes are welcome; however, there is a high demand for diaper sizes four, five and six.

Donations will be accepted until the end of the semester and can be dropped off at the following locations: Ball Hall room 215, Manning Hall, University Center room 211 and the info desk in the UC.

In addition to diapers, household and personal care items are also needed. This includes dish washing liquid, deodorant, soap, cleaning supplies and feminine care products.
