‘We deserve clarity’: Alumni challenge UofM over Multicultural Affairs closure

At its first meeting of the 2025-26 academic year, the University of Memphis Board of Trustees heard criticism from Black alumni over the closure of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, with calls for public apologies to students and staff. While President Bill Hardgrave did not address the issue, he reported rising enrollment numbers and received a $100,000 performance bonus.
