Jill Stein visits Memphis

Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein stopped through Memphis to hold a rally at Amurica Studios, located at North Cleveland Street, on Monday. During the rally Stein promoted bringing “social movements into the political battle” as well as “the growing, amazing Green Party here in Memphis and throughout Tennessee.”

“At the end of the day we are one small boat, we are one small community, we are one small human family on this planet,” Stein said at the rally. “Either we are going to fail together or we are going to sail together. So let’s make it sailing.”

One of the key issues on Stein’s platform is to “Protect Mother Earth” by leading “a global treaty to halt climate change.” One quarter of Americans are climate change skeptics, according to a 2014 report by the Public Religion Research Institute. However, 97 percent of scientists agree that climate change is happening, according to Business Insider and an appearance by Bill Nye “The Science Guy” on HBO’s “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.”
