Memphis softball releases spring schedule

After showing significant improvement last season, Memphis softball unveiled its spring schedule Thursday morning. In year two of head coach Trena Prater's tenure, it's very clear that the Tigers aren't backing down from a challenge.

The highlights of the slate include 11 teams who made the NCAA Tournament last season, including home games against Women's College World Series teams Oklahoma and Ole Miss. During the tournament slate, there will be two events held in Memphis: the 901 Classic Valentine's Day weekend and the return of the Blues City Invitational on Feb. 21 and 22, highlighted by a game against Kentucky.

"I am not one to shy away from a challenge, and our schedule is a direct reflection of that," Prater said in a press release. "My job is to win championships, and I believe that you have to beat the best to be the best."

Memphis' season begins with the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona where the Tigers will face Toledo, Texas State, Northwestern and Arizona State from Feb. 6-8.
