BSA fashion show returns to campus

The Black Student Association at the University of Memphis will hold auditions for their annual fashion show on Sept. 5 in the University Center Shelby Room.

At the auditions, students can dabble in modeling, even without prior experience, while working with members of the BSA as well as fashion designers.

“We really don’t have any specifics,” said Sharonique Layton. “We’re trying to bring all races, shapes and sizes out. However we do want more male models this year.”

The fashion committee is aiming for 50 to 70 models, and will have a total of 16 different designers on hand who will decide which models will be in their scenes.

“We want the designers to choose at least five to six models,” Layton said. “However, this year, people won’t have that many chances to be in that many scenes, because there are so many designers. There will be different people modeling for different designers, and you will have up to three chances to be in a scene.”

Raven Jones, president of the BSA, hopes to match the success of last year’s show.
