University of Memphis announces closure of Multicultural Affairs office under new state DEI law

The University of Memphis announced Friday it will close its Office of Multicultural Affairs and other diversity, equity and inclusion programs to comply with Tennessee’s new “Dismantling DEI Departments Act.” The closure includes removing DEI references from the university website and adjusting scholarship criteria, sparking concern among students.
