It was first reported by On3’s Pete Nakos that Charles Huff would be accepting the head coaching position at Memphis after one season at the helm for Southern Miss.
Huff was hired away by the Golden Eagles from Marshall, where he led the Thundering Herd to a Sun Belt championship in 2024. While in Hattiesburg, he turned Southern Miss around completely; going from one win in 2024 to seven this season and the first bowl berth since 2022.
Prior to his tenure at Marshall, Huff was a part of staffs at schools that include Alabama, Tennessee, Penn State and Vanderbilt. His time with the Crimson Tide and Nittany Lions stand out as he was the running backs coach for both programs, winning a national title in 2019 and producing a pair of star backs in the NFL in the form of Saquon Barkley and Najee Harris.
This is a developing story and will be updated with more information as it comes out.
