A man was detained by FBI and U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents outside the Meeman Journalism Building on the University of Memphis campus around 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
Officials have not released details about what led to the detainment or whether the man has any affiliation with the university.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Update (11/18/25):
A University of Memphis spokesperson has released a statement regarding the detaining of a man on campus on Monday morning.
"The U.S. Marshals apprehended an individual who was on campus this morning working for an external construction contractor," said Trent Shadid, Senior Director of University Communications, in an email. "This incident did not involve any students or employees of the university."
The U.S. Marshalls have not released a public statement about the arrest, and the identity of the man has not been disclosed. Federal agents cleared the scene shortly after the detainment, and university officials emphasized that the situation was isolated and unrelated to university activities.
