Hot wings are a favorite food for many college students, as they are usually cheap, fast to get and full of flavor. While many places to get wings surround campus, none stand out more than Ching’s Hot Wings, who won The Daily Helmsman’s Twitter poll by a vote of 86 percent to Wingstop’s 14 percent.
Although the current location at 1264 Getwell Road did not exist until 2001, the owner, who named the restaurant after his mother’s nickname, started selling wings out of a food truck in South Memphis in 1999.
Ching’s can satisfy the taste of any wing-lover with their flavors of hot, extra hot, suicide, seasoned, lemon pepper, dry hot, honey hot, honey extra hot and the oh-so popular honey gold.
