Free Food for Starving Students

It’s mid-September and four weeks into the semester, one thing is certain: the food lines are getting shorter.

Friday, the Chick-fil-a line had less than a 5-minute wait. Students were able to walk up and order almost immediately. Other mornings earlier in the semester, the line was backed up to the convenience store.

Instead of the Dunkin’ Donuts line outside the shop Monday morning, there were four people in line between classes. This could be because students are becoming tired of campus options or trying to ration their meal plans and dining dollars.

At The Daily Helmsman we want you to still be able to find food on campus without having to spend any meal plan funds and add variety to your food options each week. Many campus organizations offer free food throughout the year including some this week.

Pizza, chips and drinks

Student activities council is having “Party with a Purpose” on Tuesday, September 20. Their party’s purpose is to raise alcohol awareness on campus. The event will be held in the UC ballroom at 6 p.m.

Pizza and Drinks

TGIT night is being put on by Residence Hall Council Thursday, September 22. From 6:45 p.m. to 10 p.m. they will watch the season premieres of “Grey’s anatomy,” “Notorious,” and “How to Get Away with Murder” while eating pizza. Pizza is served on a first come first serve basis. Make sure you get it before its gone. The event will be held at Centennial Place (3615 Central Avenue) in room 170.

Finger Foods

If you like open mic nights more than the TV series being shown Thursday, then check out student activities council’s “SAC Cafe” on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the UC River room. The event will serve finger foods and various kinds of hor d’oeuvres.
