BSA to host Open mic night

The Black Student Association hosts their Open Mic Night in the University Center River Room Thursday, March 17 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The event, organized by Up Til’ Dawn benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital said, Raven Jones, a senior biology major and student in charge of the event. “We have an Up Til’ Dawn team who’s goal is to raise $500,” Raven said.

“What ever we raise at the event BSA is going to match it. It’s $5 per person and one to six people are allowed in a group.” Jones said the goal is to get people to be involved in the event.

She wanted everyone to be on stage doing something.

“The Open Mic Night is open to poetry, rap, singing and anything to express yourself,” she said. “We really need more people to sign up, be on stage and be involved. We want them on stage to show out and express themselves.”

The event features a dollar raffle with a gift card prize. Jones said the last day to sign up for the event is Thursday.

“The application is on Tiger Zone and people can sign up at our table from 12 to 2 p.m. Thursday,” Jones said.
