Former University of Memphis student Devin Jefferson was denied a new trial Monday after the Mother's Day conviction for the felony murder of fellow student and football player Taylor Bradford, committed in 2007.
Jefferson, now 23, was automatically sentenced to life in prison where he must serve 51 years before he can be considered for release.
Victor Trezevant, the second of the four suspects linked to the case, will be tried in November.
