Men's Basketball

The University of Memphis Men's basketball team lost to the Marquette Eagles.

Kelly Wise scored a another double - with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Earl Barron was the team's high scorer, finishing with 16 points.

Shyrone suffered an open dislocation of his and had to leave the game with a little over a minute left to play.

Men's Track

Senior Stefan Matschiner and Junior Delvit Rogers each won their events at the Illini classic Saturday.

Matschiner won the mile with a time of 4:12:12 while Rogers won the long jump with a jump of 28-8.75.

The Tigers sent four individuals to the final in the 60 meter dash.

Senior Tiger Larry Crawford led them with a third place finish in 6.83 seconds while Freshman Ivan Williams finished fourth.

Michael Woods finished fourth in 6.94 seconds, while Frank Diadhiou finished eighth in 6.96 seconds.

The Tigers Travel to Iowa State Next Weekend.

Women's Track

The Lady Tiger Track and Field turned in some big performances this past weekend at the University of Ilinois.

Freshman Keenan Gibson won her heat in the 60 meter dash which helped her to advance to the finals where she placed fifth with a time of 7.70 seconds.

She posted one of the Lady Tigers' four second place finishes. Gibson finished with a time of 24.79 seconds.

Lisa Marie Hyman posted a second place finish in the triple jump where she jumped 37-6.

Junior Kameilah Amaya rounded out the second place finishers with her silver in the 20 pound weight throw her best toss was 54-2.

Junior Barbara Wine placed 3rd in the shot put with a distance of 13.55 meters 44-50 while freshman Autumn Parkey and sophomore Leslie Ann Dally added a pair of fourth place finishes in the pole vault and the 600-meter run respectively.

Men's Tennis

The men's Tennis team opened its season with a 7-0 win, Saturday over University of Tennessee Martin at the Wimbledon sports complex.

The Tigers won two of the three doubles matches and swept the singles competition.

This was their first win of the year.

The Teams of Joe Schumilian/Michael Chamberlain, Dewit Stegman/Danio Castro, Michael Schumilian, Stapp, Chamberlain, Richard Magney, Todd, and Hu all won their singles matches.
