After winning two straight games on the road, Memphis women’s basketball returns to Elma Roane Fieldhouse to take on the Ball State Cardinals, kicking off a four-game homestand. The Tigers’ offense was ice cold, shooting 24% from the field in the first half and 31% for the game. Between the offensive struggles and Ball State’s dominance on the glass, the visitors proved to be too much for Memphis as it drops another home game 83-59.

When the ball was tipped, both teams came out of the gates with a lot of energy. Full-court defense was being showcased on both sides, but Ball State broke through the pressure first. Once that happened, they closed the first quarter leading 28-13 and never looked back.

While there weren’t many bright spots for the Tigers in this one, Chaé Harris scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to lead her team with 18 for the afternoon. Corri Allen was also a standout for Memphis, finishing with 14 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. As for the visitors, sophomore guard Grace Kingery went off for 22 points and made six three-pointers and senior center Tessa Towers finished with a 11 point and 10 rebound double-double.

Despite the fact that the game was at home, there was no media availability after the game. Memphis continues to look for its first home win this season, and it will get another chance when No. 13 Ole Miss makes the trip to the Bluff City for a game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.
