Memphis forward Paris Gaines battles for a rebound in the Tigers' game against Florida in the Cayman Islands Classic. She finished with three points after six minutes of play.

After winning back-to-back games, Memphis women's basketball embarked on a journey to the Cayman Islands to play Florida in the first of two games in the Cayman Islands Classic. The Tigers put up a great showing against another SEC foe, but the Gators' proved to be too much and handed Memphis a 74-60 loss.

The difference in the game came down to Florida's production in the paint led by Me'Arah O'Neal, daughter of NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, and Liv McGill. These two combined for 51 points and got whatever they wanted inside while the Tigers shot just 31% from the field.

Despite this, Memphis kept the game within grasp by turning the ball over only 12 times all night, a season-low, and got great production from Tamya Smith and Daejah Richmond.

The Tigers will be back in action tomorrow against St. John's at 6:30 p.m. CT in search of a split in the two-day event. The game will be streamed live on FloCollege.
