Memphis running back Greg Desrosiers Jr. breaks a South Florida tackle in the Tigers' 34-31 victory over the Bulls Saturday at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

The Memphis football team entered both the Associated Press (AP) and Coaches poll Sunday at No. 25 after their 34-31 victory against previously No. 18 South Florida on Saturday.

The Tigers dropped out of the rankings after suffering a stunning defeat at UAB last week as a three-score favorite. Memphis responded by beating, on paper, the toughest opponent on their schedule.

The move into the rankings reflects the narrative around Memphis' College Football Playoff outlook. The Tigers have put themselves back into the conversation, but they will likely need to win the remainder of their games to have any chance at the American Conference title game, let along the Playoff.

Memphis will look to keep the momentum going Friday when they will play at Rice at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
