Rifle finishes 2nd in 3-team event at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio - No. 10 Memphis rifle finished second in a three-team event at Ohio State on Saturday, barely losing to No. 2 Kentucky 4740-4712, while finishing ahead of No. 12 Ohio State 4712-4688. 

Memphis had a good smallbore relay, shooting 2339 which was second behind Kentucky’s 2350. Freshman Emmet Bodrogi shot 587 while Freshman Gabby Ayers and sophomore Katrina Demerle both shot 586.  

In the second discipline, Air Rifle, Memphis shot an even better 2373 but still finished second to Kentucky, who shot 2390. Memphis had three players shoot a team high of 594: Katrina Demerle, Kenlee Ewton and Gabriela Zych.  

The Tigers had four players finish in the top 10 individual scorers with two in the top 5. Demerle finished fourth with 1180, Ewton finished fifth with 1178, Bodgrodi finished sixth with 1177 and Zych finished eighth with 1176. Memphis comes back home to face No. 13 Akron on Sunday.
