The Memphis men’s basketball team was voted first place, and guard Dug McDaniel and forward Aaron Bradshaw were each projected to be First Team All-Conference in the American Conference preseason poll on Thursday.
Memphis garnered 11 of 13 first place votes and are seen as the clear favorite to win the league, with South Florida and new coach Bryan Hodgson being the only team to get any other first place votes.
After winning the American Conference regular season and tournament in dominant fashion last year and earning a 5-seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Tigers return zero players from last season. Still, coaches throughout the league expect the Tigers to repeat what they did last year behind Kansas St. transfer Dug McDaniel and Ohio St. transfer Aaron Bradshaw.
Memphis will take the court for the first time in the Hoops for St. Jude Classic, an exhibition at FedExForum against John Calipari and Arkansas on Oct. 27 and will start regular season play on Nov. 8 at home against San Francisco.
