No. 10 Memphis Rifle defeated No. 13 Akron 4732-4686 to get their first win of the season Sunday at R.F. Fogelman Rifle Range.
Memphis closely won the first discipline, Smallbore, 2348-2330. Memphis freshmen Emmet Bodrogi and Megan Jaros both shot a discipline high of 592. The Tigers won the second discipline, Air Rifle, 2384-2356. Memphis sophomore Katrina Demerle had a game-high of almost perfect 598. Kenlee Ewton, another Memphis sophomore, also almost had a perfect score, shooting 597.
Memphis dominated the individual top 10 rankings, having 7 of the top 10 and all of the top 5. Emmet Bodgori placed first (1185 aggregate), Katrina Demerle second (1183), Megan Jaros third (1183), Gabriela Zych fourth (1183) and Kenlee Ewton fifth (1181). Sophie Cruz finished seventh with 1175 and Gabby Ayers finished 10th with 1167.
Memphis will be off for a few weeks with their next competition coming at No. 2 Kentucky on November 8.
