In honor of Homecoming, hundreds of students filled Parking Lot 20 at the University of Memphis on Thursday evening for the annual Bluff City Bash.

Organized by the Student Activities Council, the Bluff City Bash is an exclusive student festival that brings together Tigers to celebrate community and the fall Homecoming season. Gates opened at 6 p.m., with students enjoying food trucks, drinks and live performances from artists Key Glock, K Camp and Raq Baby.

This marked Key Glock’s first performance for the University of Memphis since his appearance at Memphis Madness in 2019.

Filled with excitement and anticipation, students gathered under the lights of Lot 20 ready for a night of music and celebration. For many, the Bluff City Bash served as a much-needed break from the demands of mid-semester coursework.

“I’m currently taking six classes, and I’m exhausted,” said Emily James, 20, a junior chemistry major. “Enjoying some good music and being around my friends is exactly what I need to recharge for the rest of the semester.”

The night’s main attraction was Key Glock, a Memphis-born rapper who has built a loyal fan base and become a defining figure in the city’s hip-hop scene. Coming off his “Glockaveli” tour, his return to his hometown campus was highly anticipated.

“Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to see Key Glock on his last tour, so when I found out he was performing on campus, I claimed my ticket as fast as I could,” said Amos Smith, 21, a senior psychology major. “I’ve been listening to Key Glock since middle school, so being able to see my favorite rapper for free is a dream come true.”

The Bluff City Bash once again proved to be a highlight of Homecoming Week, giving students a space to relax, celebrate and connect through Memphis music and campus pride.
