The Egyptology Graduate Student Association hosted a Halloween-themed bake sale on Thursday, Oct. 30, at the Mitchell Hall pavilion from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to raise funds for future programming.
Originally scheduled for Wednesday, the event was postponed due to inclement weather. On Thursday, members offered an assortment of cakes and cookies for just one dollar each to University of Memphis students passing by.
Among the representatives at the bake sale was Sidney Pickens, vice president of the Egyptology Graduate Student Association. Pickens said proceeds from the event will go toward enhancing departmental programming.
“The proceeds from this bake sale are to help with plans for our professors and their lectures,” Pickens said.
Up next, the association is preparing for an upcoming lecture titled “The Deified Amenhotep I and Ahmose Neferari in TT 16” by Dr. Suzanne Onstine. The event will take place Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Shelby Room of the University Center.
