The University of Memphis volleyball team fell to 3-1 on the season in a 3-2 loss against the University of Denver Thursday in their first game of the Denver Classic.
The Tigers forced a deciding fifth set which started out badly for Memphis just like the beginning of the game, with Denver jumping out to an 11-3 lead. Memphis fought back but still lost the set 15-7 and lost the game, 3-2.
Amanda Hardt was the leader for the Tigers in both kills and points, with 16 kills and 18 points. Zaniah Hoskins and Janyah Henderson both contributed as well. Hoskins had 15.5 points and Henderson had 13.5 points.
Memphis volleyball will continue playing in the Denver Classic for the next two days. The Tigers play Idaho State tomorrow at 5 p.m. and will play Texas Southern on Saturday at noon. Both will be streamed on ESPN+.
