NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Memphis men’s soccer team started their 2025 campaign with a 1-1 draw against Lipscomb in Nashville Thursday night, squandering a lead in the final fifteen minutes.

In the 77th minute, Lipscomb’s Diego Ramirez scored a bouncing header in the Memphis box to salvage a 1-1 tie for the home team.

Memphis’ goal came in eerily similar fashion in the 47th minute when Tiger defender Fletcher Hedge found the ball at his feet off a deflected corner kick. Each team had 7 shots on goal in what was a very evenly contested game.

The Tigers will look for their first win of season number 12 for head coach Richard Mulrooney when they play Belmont at the Park Avenue (South) Campus Sunday night at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
