UM College of Education gets grant dollars

The Institute of Museum and Library Services granted $552,168 to the College of Education at The University of Memphis through the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian program.

The funds will support The U of M's School Librarian Support for Online Study project, producing 30 school librarians to work in high-need schools.

The program will provide scholarships and computers for students seeking master of library science degrees, in return for a three-year commitment to work in a school library.

The SOS project supports librarian recruitment endeavors, preparing them for careers, research grants, staffing needs, curriculum development and training.
