Shelby County Sheriff Mark Luttrell will be on campus Friday at 1 p.m. in the University Center, room 342, as part of the University of Memphis College Republicans' "Raise Your Voice" speakers' series.
Luttrell, who recently announced his bid Shelby County Mayor, will speak with students and answer questions at the event, which is free and open to the public. Pizza and drinks will be provided.
The mayoral primary election is scheduled for May 4, when Luttrell will face fellow Republican Ernest A. Lunati. His Democrat opponents include interim county mayor Joe Ford, county general sessions court clerk Otis Jackson Jr. and county commissioner Deidre Malone. Early primary election voting is April 14-19, and the general election is scheduled for Aug. 5.
