Memphis police charged a 20-year-old man yesterday with robbing two female students at gunpoint near campus on Oct. 31.
North Memphian Jarvis Bowers approached the students at 3279 Southern Ave., west of campus. He was armed with a handgun, according to the police report. Bowers, who was joined by an accomplice, told the victims to lie on the ground near one of the students' cars, then took the victims' purses and car keys and other valuables, the report stated.
The suspects drove away in one of the victim's vehicles.
Police are holding Bowers, who faces two charges of aggravated robbery, on $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. today for his arraignment.
