The Confucius Institute at The University of Memphis will commemorate its second anniversary on campus Monday with song, dance, moon cakes and tea.
The Institute will begin festivities shortly after 10 a.m. with the grand opening of its new office space in Wilder Tower, followed by the unveiling of a new Confucius statue at 10:45 a.m. also in Wilder Tower.
The day's other events include a photo exhibition and lunch reception at 11 a.m. in Wilder Tower, a lecture on U.S.-Sino relations by U of M professor Yang Yiping at 2 p.m. in the Michael D. Rose Theatre and a tribute to Chinese culture at 7:30 p.m., also in the Rose Theatre.
The Institute will close the celebration with moon cakes and tea at 8:30 p.m. in the Student Plaza.
