The College Sports Research Institute hosts their long-awaited four-day conference beginning Wednesday, April 16 and lasting until Saturday, April 19. This event, planned and promoted almost entirely by the students enrolled in CSRI, funds The University's sports management programs.
One of the highly anticipated events is the keynote address provided by former director of basketball operations for Nike, Reebok and Adidas, Sonny Vaccaro. In addition to signing Michael Jordan to his first endorsement deal, Vaccaro has been linked with NBA sensations Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. He transformed the world of athletic marketing and advertising into a popular culture phenomenon.
Panelists and speakers from major universities all over the country are coming here to touch on a variety of sports issues from NCAA Division I-A football infractions to sportsmanship. The conference kicks off at 8:15 a.m. at the FedEx Institute of Technology with Vaccaro's speech on Thursday, April 17.
