The University of Memphis is giving students and faculty memberswho have a flair for creativity their chance at fame -- on campusat least.
Every year, The U of M collects quotes from students, facultyand staff to be showcased in the following year's student handbookand planner.
The quotes can either be original, from someone famous or froman anonymous source.
The handbook's editors, three students from the Judicial andEthical Program, pick the best quotes to appear in the next year'sedition.
"If they pick your quote, you will have the opportunity to haveyour quote printed, and if a student wants his or her picture, itcan also be place by the quote in the calendar section of thehandbook," said Terrie Jackson, Judicial and Ethical Programadministrative secretary.
Last year's quote submitted by a student that won a space in thehandbook was from Brian Dodson.
Dodson's quote was, "He who never made a mistake, never made adiscovery," by an anonymous source.
To enter, submit a quote with its author and your name and phonenumber on the entry form on page 139 of the 2003-2004 studenthandbook and planner and return it to the Dean of Students Office,University Center, Room 443, by April 1, 2004.
Jackson said students should give it a chance at least for funand to see if their quote will get published.
"This is a fun activity for students not only who likes havingfun with quotes, but also for those who want to give other peoplesomething to think about or inspiration," Jackson said.
