Alumnus stops by on book tour

Eric Jerome Dickey, author and University of Memphis alumnus, will be the guest of honor at the Alumni Center this weekend in celebration of his latest novel, “Between Lovers.”

The University is just one of many stops on Dickey’s national book tour, which includes several other appearances in his hometown of Memphis.

On Friday, Dickey is scheduled to attend an invitation-only event jointly sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and The University. He will also visit two local bookstores for signings.

Saturday a Greek mixer and book signing are scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“Between Lovers” is Dickey’s sixth novel. He has also contributed to collections of short stories and written a screenplay for the movie “Cappuccino.” Since graduating from The U of M, Dickey has worked as a software developer, a teacher, an actor and a stand-up comedian before becoming a novelist.

Both events on campus this weekend will benefit the newly-launched Eric Jerome Dickey Library and Literary Enrichment Fund, which benefits The U of M’s Ned McWherter Library.

Reservations for Saturday’s book signing may be made by calling 678-4224.
