Team culture can be hard to define as it is a bit of a broad term. Oftentimes it refers to the team's shared values, beliefs, attitudes and behaviors. A team’s culture isn’t necessarily about what they do, but how they work together to do it. The culture of a team establishes norms of appropriate behavior and lets team members know how they are to behave, communicate and cooperate.

The 2021-2022 Memphis Tigers basketball season was a roller coaster of performances. After high preseason hopes by fans and the national media, the Tigers fought adversity on and off the court throughout the year, but they were still able to attain their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2014.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of people enroll in college for the first time. Whether it’s a two-year or a four-year, in or out of state, or private or public, students pick a program that caters to them specifically. Once there, they begin to embark on their journey of adulthood. This means freedom from parents, joining clubs and organizations, living on campus, and plenty of other aspects that give them a sense of maturity.

The 6-mile mid-city stretch known as Summer Avenue has been the home to hundreds of local shops and restaurants over the years. In 1952, the first Holiday Inn in the United States was placed on Summer, at the corner of Mendenhall. The first McDonald’s in Memphis was on Summer Avenue, where you could get a hamburger for fifteen cents. They have both since been demolished.

It’s safe to say the Tigers’ 2022 softball season has not gone as well as hoped. As of April 24, at the end of the team’s three games series against Wichita State, the Tigers hold a losing record of 16-32, and have gone 2-13 in conference play, putting them at last place in the AAC.
