Police need students help identifying the two men shown in still photos taken from surveillance cameras. The men are wanted for questioning in relation to an armed robbery that took place Tuesday in Carpenter Complex.

The robbery occurred in the 3800 block of Carpenter Complex at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday. The victim, who was not injured in the incident, reported that two males were in her residence and demanded personal items.

One of the suspects is described as a black male in his 20s, between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build. He was last seen armed with a silver automatic handgun. Because of video surveillance of the two men, police now know he was wearing a blue-striped "hoodie" and dark shorts in the photos. In the top photo on the right, he is on the viewer's right and is carrying a tan shoulder bag with "Hope Presbyterian" written on it.

The other suspect was last seen wearing a pullover short-sleeve shirt with black and white horizontal stripes. In the top right photo he is on the viewer's left and is wearing a white cap and a black "hoodie" with "Band Master" in blue on the front. He was also carrying a tan and brown zebra-striped backpack. He is described as a black male, 19 to 20 years old, 5 feet 6 inches, a thin build, light complexion, and short, dark curly hair. Police also described him as having a "chin" beard.

Bruce Harber, director of Police Services, said he believed the men were carrying some of the victim's property in the photo.

"In fact, some of that property has been identified," Harber said. "That's how we had so much detail for some of the things [the men] had."

The captured images can be viewed in color at dailyhelmsman.com. Police asked that anyone with information about this incident call 678-4357 or submit a tip anonymously through the "Silent Witness" program at memphis.edu/police/confidential.php.

Police encourage everyone to be aware of their surroundings and immediately report any suspicious activity. They also encourage people to walk in groups after dark, and while on campus to use the Tiger Escort Program by calling 678-HOME.
