Head Coach Brooks Monoghan and the Memphis women’s soccer team announced the signing of 10 student-athletes Wednesday. The signees will join the women’s squad later this summer to commence training for the upcoming fall season.
Memphis graduated four seniors from their 2017 roster and will look to the 10 new players to help fill the voids left by the graduates. The incoming freshman class is diverse, consisting of forwards, midfielders and defenders.

Claire Abrey — Midfielder from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
Abrey attended Saint Joseph High School where she ran cross country and played soccer. She earned a spot on team Saskatchewan in the 2017 Canada Summer Games. In the same year, Abrey attended the U-20 Canadian National Team camp. Abrey is one of four Canadians to sign with the Tigers this signing period.
Tanya Boychuk — Forward/Midfielder from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Boychuck comes to the Tigers with the most playing experience out of this signing group. In addition to being a member of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Super REX Program, Boychuck also has three caps with the U-20 Canadian National Team. She and current Tiger Jessica Lisi recently returned from the 2018 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifier. Boychuck displayed her abilities at the tournament and scored a goal in the 4-0 win over Haiti.
Beatrice Currie — Forward/Midfielder from Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada
The former 2015 Soccer Nova Scotia Youth Player of the Year comes from Cape Breton Football Club and is also a part of the Canadian National EXCEL Program. She netted a team-leading five goals in five matches for Team Nova Scotia in the 2017 Canadian Games. Currie was also the leading scorer for Halifax Dunbrack in the 2017 Senior Women’s Canadian National Championship.
Caroline Duncan — Defender/Midfielder from Memphis
The Memphis native signs with the Tigers alongside her twin sister, Grace. Duncan played four years of soccer at White Station, and she captained the team three of those years. She captained her CSA Lady Lobos Rush team to a 2017 State Championship.
Grace Duncan — Forward/Midfielder from White Station High School
Duncan also played four years of soccer at White Station High School. As a freshman, sophomore and junior, Duncan was a nominee for The Commercial Appeal’s Best of the Preps award. She was also a member of the CSA Lady Lobos Rush Team that claimed the 2017 State Championship.
Lydia Herring — Forward/Midfielder from Memphis
Herring is from Olive Branch, Mississippi, and attended Hutchison High School, where she played soccer all four years. She helped lead her team to the high school semifinals in 2016. She was an All-Region selection 2015-18, an All-Metro pick 2015-17 and an All-State selection in 2017. Herring can play up top, and she can also play back as a defender.
Myah Jalal — Forward/Midfielder from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Jalal is one of the four Canadians to sign this spring. The four-sport athlete attended Vimy Ridge Academy in Edmonton, Alberta. She ran track and field, swam competitively and played soccer. As a member of the Scottish Angels Major League Women’s club, Jalal has over four years of experience with FCE REX/RPC and is a current member of the Canada National Pool of Players.
Allie Rathbun — Defender from Savannah, Georgia
Rathbun joins the Tigers from Jacksonville Armada FC. From 2014 to 2016, Rathbun was a member of the Georgia State ODP Team as well as the Region III ODP Team.
Lauren Schultz — Forward/Midfielder from Wheeling, West Virginia
Schultz played soccer for four years at Wheeling Park High School in West Virginia. Schultz was named First-Team All-State, All-OVAC and All-Conference at Wheeling Park.
Maddie Stoks — Defender from Greenfield, Minnesota
Stoks was a multi-sport high school athlete, participating in lacrosse and soccer. As an outside defender and midfielder, Stoks was a two-time All-State Team mem ber, three-time All-Conference player, a 2017 Miss Minnesota finalist, an All-Minnesota Metro Team member and a two-time All-Tournament Team selection. She is a member of Minneapolis United, a club team ranked in the top-50 in the United States. She also had the opportunity to train in Natal, Brazil, in 2014 and was a Minnesota ODP starter in 2013 and 2014

Brooks Monagan took over for the University of Memphis women’s soccer team in 2000 at the age of 26.
