Students invited to enter 28th Annual Research Forum

Students have the chance to compete for up to $3,000 in prizes by entering their research into the 28th Annual Research Forum, being held at the University Center Ballroom on March 28.

Currently enrolled students in any department or college at the University of Memphis can apply online through March 7.

The application only requires basic information, such as the title of the presentation, the student’s first and last name, advisor, classification and a school issued e-mail address.

Those who want to enter the forum are also required to submit an abstract, or a brief summary of the research to be presented, consisting of 75-100 words.

Each year the forum gives both graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to present their research before a panel of faculty judges, allowing students the chance to hone their presentation skills and present their research in a formal, yet supportive, setting.

The forum will include a trifold poster presentation from 10-11:30 a.m. and an awards ceremony from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Each presentation will be judged for conception and execution, content, whether the student knows enough about his or her research topic and how well the student visually summarizes key points of the research.

The University of Memphis’ Graduate School, the Helen Hardin Honor Program and the Graduate Student Association are co-sponsoring the annual research forum.

Additional information such as this year’s schedule, registration material, information on preparing the abstract and poster and judging criteria can be found on the Student Research Forum webpage.

Students can also email questions to Lakesha Herring at graduateschool@memphis.edu.
