Letter from the Editor

Hello all staff and students. I am proud to be your new Editor-in-Chief for the Daily Helmsman. I am ecstatic to bring you the best I have for this new semester and ready to continue to give out quality content, with my own spin on it.

I have been a reporter for the Helmsman for a year and took the jump from there to the highest position on the staff. A little nerve-racking at first, but a step that I feel was best for me to take in order to get where I want to be.

I am an outspoken leader. I call it how it is and am not afraid to put my own opinion on big issues when I want to use the platform I have.

I say that to say I will use this position responsibly, while also taking advantage of it. Other people’s opinions don’t bother me, and if you have an issue with my opinion, I am more than glad to have a discussion. But understand it is my opinion, and I have the right to say what it is that I want to say. So, I do hope that is made clear on that part.

On a less serious note, I love to write so I will have different topics on which to write on. I love sports, mainly basketball so I will have much to say in that area.

Something new I want to do is movie reviews as well. I love watching movies and actually work at a theatre, so I get free movies anytime I want, which works out perfectly. I already have my first one on this issue and plan to come out with one at least once a week, but really anytime there is major buzz on a movie, or one that sticks out to me that I want to see.

I appreciate those that have been with me, supporting me up until this point and I am happy to be the next man up in this position. Let’s have one heck of a semester.
