Students robbed at Sigma Chi house

Several students were robbed on the porch of the Sigma Chi fraternity house on Mynders Avenue late Thursday night, according to an email by Interim Chief of Police Derek Myers sent to the campus community.

A suspect described as African American, 6 feet tall, 20-25 years old and wearing a “black cap, black hoodie and dark pants” walked up to a group of students on the porch of the house at 11:35 p.m. and demanded personal property, the email said. The suspect was armed with a handgun, but no one was injured, the email said.

The suspect was last seen running south on Brister Street.

Campus police and the Memphis Police Department are still investigating the incident and ask anyone with more information to contact one of the two departments.
